I know it has been a while since my last post... but I just wanted to provide some insight on this piece, although I want the work to stand alone, I think some feed back is what a blog is for. I will try and keep my thoughts in some kind of understandable order.

After quite some time I finally was able to reach a point of contentment with this piece. Taking a break from drawing was a refreshing as well as challenging experience, I felt as if I hadn't touched paint in over a decade. The frustration of painting with its dry time and how you have to step away in order for it to breathe, and return at a later time with fresh eyes was daunting. The process honestly still feels foreign to me and there is a lack of control in comparison to drawing. But the openness and freedom of making a mark and simply being satisfied with the immediate is what keeps me coming back. It truly is a push and pull-back experience. Also I decided to wing it and work at a larger scale which further pulled me out of my comfort zone, which from time to time I feel is a necessary evil.

So I know it has been a while since I have updated my blog, but here are a few in progress shots of some of my current work. I do feel kind of bad for leaving my blog a bit neglected, but I do want everyone to know I have some things planned and I am trying to bring a few things to fruition. Should have these pieces finished and up on my main site in a day or two! So please bare with me on this.

Respice Finem / Me Equals You

The awesome members of the band Me Equals You allowed me complete creative freedom for their latest album Respice Finem. The album covers a complex variety of emotions and relationships between morality and the individuals experiences growing up with high contrast belief systems. So it was important for me to interpret a feeling of being torn and a sensation of feeling trapped with in someones surroundings, but at the same time the album is about the acceptance of reason and the freedom that it has the possibility of bringing into a persons life. So the main subject is shown infested with a tumorous growth that resembles the foliage it emerged from, symbolizing two very different places in life, and that even once someone has escaped, the roots from past experiences are still highly present and visible. Hope you enjoy viewing these drawings as much as I did creating them.

   I recently had the opportunity of being interviewed by the Urbanite, a Baltimore based magazine that monitors the growth of Art and Culture throughout the Baltimore area. I happened to be included in the My Creation section of the Arts/ Culture e-zine. Im particularly happy with the title Cara Ober had given the article. Synapses at the Undergraduate Exhibition / MICA

So it has been a couple weeks since my last post and I just wanted to show what I have currently been working on. Sorry the photo is a bit weak, but I will make up for that hopefully when it's finished, right now I would say it is about sixty-five percent finished, and I just wanted to show how I am approaching this drawing, and that is a gradual transition from dark to light, I want it to slowly disintegrate as you move your eyes upwards through the composition.
